Our Story

The Longshot Men's retreat began in 2011 as an effort to bring men together around the common interests of shooting sports and disc golf, with the purpose of truly retreating and recharging. We live in a world that embraces the "every man for himself" mantra, yet God tells us through His word that we are supposed to support, encourage, strengthen and sharpen one another. That is what this retreat is about. You will experience inspiring and practical teaching sessions delivered byinspiring and insightful teachers as we explore the topics that are particularly geared to men. Enjoy lodging and meals at Camp Lone Star; music, skeet , trap and Sporting clays, pistol and rifle ranges, disc golf competition, hiking, washers, horseshoes, and other guy stuff all for just $175.00 or less if you regeister early or with a group This event will be limited to the first 150 men to register and pay. The weekend starts at 8:00 Friday evening, and will finish up before lunch on Sunday. If you are 18 or older, Contact Pastor Aaron Goeke to confirm your reservations or to request any special lodging or food requirements.

  • No, absolutley not! Please feel free to bring a buddy who is of any faith or no faith at all. This event is simply an opportunity for men to hang out and grow as men. The men with no religious affiliation who have attended this retreat, have often brought some of the best insight and created some of the strongest friendships of all who attended.

  • All attendees must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the event.

  • You will be responsible for providing/finding your own transportation to the event. Check with other men in your church or your area, to arrange carpools and caravans. This sort of arrangement is not only convenient, but can make the event and the travel time even more enjoyable for you.

  • We will be staying in the cabins, and you must bring your own linens. So binrg a pillow, and either a sleeping bag or sheets/blankets for bed. All beds are twin sized.

  • Yes, so bring your towel and soap for showing, (please plan to shower....PLEASE!)

  • It is not mandatory, but is helpful.

  • Guns of course. Should be obvious. If you want to shoot and don't have a gun, there will be plenty there for you to borrow and try, but remember offering to pay for ammo to the fella lending you the gun is a nice thing to do.
Ammo, again obvious. You can bring ammo to use if you are planning on borrowing guns too. Common calibers are, .22 LR, 9mm, .40 S&W, .45, and .380 for pistols. .223, .30-06, 7.6X39, and 5.56X45 for rifles. 12 gauge shells are most common for shotguns.
